  • About the Organization

    CENTER LANE, a program of Westchester Jewisch Community Services, is where LGBTQ+ youth ages 13-21 create community, connect to culture, and contribute to the world!

    Center Lane is Westchester’s only community center dedicated to meeting the needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer/questioning (LGBTQ+) youth ages 13-21. Designed to build community and reduce isolation, Center Lane provides opportunities for social connections, and personal growth in an affirming safe place with supportive adults where they can be explore ajnd discuss issues related to identifying as LGBTQ+ in the 21st century.

    Center Lane provides: after school programming, weekly support LGBTQ+ groups, and TransParentcy, a group for trans and gender non-conforming youth and their primary caregivers. Center Lane Prom for LGBTQ+ youth is a highlight of the year, as is summer Pride Camp, usually the first week in August.

    Center Lane also provides ongoing training in high schools and social service agencies on issues related to growing up LGBTQ+ in their schools and communities. We have trained schools, clinicians, counselors, medical professionals, and law enforcement agencies..

    While most of the activities take place at in Yonkers, which also focuses on LGBTQ youth of color, CENTER LANE also offers satellite services at The LOFT LGBT Center in White Plains.

    Center Lane provides workshops and presentations in schools and agencies. Tailored to the age and background of the audience, the training aims to deepen understanding, reduce bullying, combat misinformation and promote social justice for all.

    Our parent organization, Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS), is your not-for-profit non-sectarian neighbor, helping people cope with and conquer the effects of mental, physical, social and educational challenges. Our caring and compassionate programs serve more than 18,000 adults, children and families each year through approximately 60 sites across Westchester.
